Miramax Films, one of Hollywood's most prestigious studios, has optioned Mal Chance, a project based on a Spanish comic book by Martin Pardo and David Morancho and pitched by Platinum Studios, founded by Scott Rosenberg (Malibu Comics).  Scott Murphy, whose writing credits include WB television series Ange and Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane, adapted the comic by adding elements of screwball comedy to the comic narrative of a beautiful Chinese assassin, who is forced to take on and bring down the criminal organization for which she worked.

Murphy was quoted in the Hollywood Reporter thanking '...Platinum for being open-minded and letting me do what I do.  I love screwball comedies, and I love Hong Kong action movies.  I was able to combine these two genres that I love.'  Platinum Studios chairman and CEO Rosenberg is producing the project.  Ervin Rustemagic and Gregory Noveck are co-producing.  Blake Morrison is the associate producer.

Platinum Studios' other projects in development include Dreamworks' Nathan Never, New Line Cinema's Million Dollar Heroes, and Dimension Films' Ghosting and Teen Witch.
