At the San Diego Comic-Con International, Inkworks announced the acquisition of the trading card license for the Universal Pictures' April 22, 2005 theatrical release, Serenity.  Written and directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Serenity is essentially the big screen version of Whedon's innovative, but short-lived science fiction TV series Firefly.

Set 500 years in the future, Serenity is the story of Captain Malcolm Reynolds, who was on the losing side of a galactic civil war and now ekes out a living on the fringes of space.  When he takes on two passengers who are fleeing from the ruling coalition, the captain and his crew are pursued relentlessly by the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance.

Inkworks plans on releasing its Serenity Premium Trading Cards next spring at least three weeks prior to the opening of the film.  The series will include character cards, informative behind-the-scenes cards, autographed chase cards and even rarer 'pieceworks' cards, which contain swatches of actual costumes used in the filming of the movie.
