An article in the Korea Times reports that the Korea Culture and Content Agency, which operated a large booth at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-con International, sold over $1.1 million in manhwa rights at the show.  The rights sales mean that over 40 new manhwa comics are headed for the U.S., according to the article.  The agency also reported interest in manhwa characters from Hollywood studios.
