Top comic scribe Brian Michael Bendis was featured in a Special Small Business Section of Tuesday's New York Times, in a 10-panel comic strip written and drawn by Bendis, in which he explains his business relationship with the giant comic book publisher Marvel Comics.

In the second panel Bendis notes, 'Actually mainstream comics have seen a huge upswing in quality over the last few years,' and he depicts the covers of some of his favorite works by other creators including Blue Monday, Sleeper, Kabuki, Hammer of the Gods, Queen & Country, Hellboy and a Will Eisner Sketchbook.

In the remainder of the strip, Bendis explains how he started out as a creator of independent comics subsisting on Ramen noodles, how his wife handled his business affairs and put together his Jinxworld Corporation, and how today a 'large publicly traded company like Marvel' hires his small corporation for a creative service.  All in all it's a very cool little piece, but the coolest part of all is the fact that Bendis used a comic strip to tell his story.
