IDW Publishing has announced that a new Cal McDonald comic written by creator Steve (30 Days of Night) Niles, with art by Kelley Jones, will begin this March. Supernatural Freak Machine: A Cal McDonald Mystery, will be six color issues, with the villain, Dr. Polynice, from Savage Membrane (one of the prose novels).
The monster-hunting private eye characer has previously appeared in three prose novels written by Niles, published by IDW. Dark Horse published a collection of Cal McDonald comic stories, Criminal Macabre, previously published in an anthology format. And Dark Horse will publish the next Cal McDonald rose novel, Last Train to Deadsville, in April of 2005.
