With the impending summer release of the Batman Begins blockbuster, it's a pity that disputes between Warner Bros. and Fox have kept the 1960s Batman TV series from joining the seemingly endless procession of TV shows to DVD.  Retailers interested in presenting their customers with a look at pre-1989 Batman incarnations will have to make do with Fox's Batman: The Movie and Anchor Bay's May 17th release of the 2003 spoof Return to the Batcave, which had Adam West and Burt Ward flashing back to their storied past as stars of the small screen.

Of course anyone who wants to go 'way back' can also check out Batman & Robin: The Serial Collection, a two-disk set from Sony Home Entertainment which contains the 15-chapter Batman serial from 1949, which starred Robert Lowery and John Duncan as the Dynamic Duo.  Batman & Robin: The Serial Collection has a suggested retail of $29.95 and streets on March 22nd.
