According to the Hollywood Reporter Warner Bros. is so pleased with the opening of the DC/Vertigo-based Constantine film that a sequel appears to be a foregone conclusion.  Warners' president of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman told the Reporter: 'Considering this was an unknown quantity, we're obviously really pleased with the results and look forward to the sequel.' According to Fellman 'the exits were excellent, which leads us to conclude the film will continue to do well.'  If the $100 million film continues to draw substantial crowds for the next few weeks, a sequel appears inevitable, especially given the wealth of material in the library of over 20 Hellblazer graphic novels published by DC.

Constantine's four-day total of $34.6 million was the biggest opening ever for an R-Rated movie over an extended holiday weekend.  Driven largely by Hitch and Constantine the President's Day weekend total climbed 14% from last year.  Constantine's opening weekend audience was only slightly more male (56%) than female and evenly split between those older and younger than 25.
