Bob Cosner of Bob's Baseball Cards in Des Moines, Iowa saw Steven Bates' 'I Think I Can Manage' column on the death of a friend of the store (see 'I Think I Can Manage -- Only the Good Die Young'), and sent his reaction:

I really enjoyed your article.  It made me laugh (no wait, let me wipe that tear away) and it made me laugh again.  Nice job on a touchy subject.  I write a weekly article for a local newspaper about sports collectibles, comics and gaming, and you are right about it being difficult to stay on subject.  However, you did a GREAT job with this story and you should be very proud of it.

I have an employee that sounds a lot like Sam--a bit jumpy, an easy target for pranks, funny and pretty hard-working, for a senior in high school.  But if you put him in a round room and told him to go pee in the corner, he would spend all day trying to figure it out and not know we were giggling at him.  And once he did figure it out, he would put his hands on his hips and laugh at himself disgustedly.  After reading your article, I will take the time to enjoy this guy's good nature and the next time I put a Sammy Sosa Standee in a room and ask him to go get something out of that room, when I hear him scream, I will laugh and think of him, and now Sam, with fondness.

Keep up the good work.
