'Thanks so much for the good and kind wishes. I never got out of Brooklyn today. My neighborhood is right across the river from the WTC. I got a clear view of the second crash. It was the most horrific sight I have ever seen; people were crying in the street, myself among them
'At DC, I hear the mood among those who got stranded there was tense. Mike Carlin's sister works (oh, worked) at WTC, but got out early and is safe. A few others have had the same scare over loved ones and it may be a long time before they know. Transportation is being reinstituted gradually to get people out of Manhattan, with some people just walking across the bridges.
'A few hours ago, I heard planes outside my window...kinda' scary since all planes have been grounded. They were Navy fighter jets! In New York City!
'Thanks for keeping me and my colleagues in your thoughts.

On Wednesday, DC Comics released the following statement:
'Like everyone who works and lives in and around New York City, DC staffers are all quite shaken and are taking comfort in the good wishes of our friends and colleagues around the world.
'Fortunately, our offices are far enough from the World Trade Center and are safe. Like many of you, we experienced excruciating worry on Tuesday about friends and family, and commutes home that were beyond challenging. Today we're taking the guidance of the city and most -- if not all -- of the DC staff is staying home.
'Thanks to e-mail access and our colleagues at Wildstorm, Diamond, Quebecor, and our freelance community, we continue with the business of publishing comics and expect to be fully operational as soon as possible. But most important, our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those missing, hurt, and lost.'
