Variety has reported that a third Asterix film, Asterix at the Olympic Games, has been greenlit, with shooting scheduled to start next March and release (first in France) in early 2007.  Gerard Depadieu will once again play Obelix; a new Asterix is being sought. 

 

The last Asterix film, Asterix and Obelix:  Mission Cleopatra, was a huge hit in France ('Live Action Asterix Film Boffo in France'), although the property owners were reportedly not happy with it. 

 

The books are in print in English, so if the film makes it to the States, there will be plenty of product to sell based on media attention.
