Jhonen Vasquez, the creator of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Squee!, and the Nickelodeon animated series Invader Zim,  has won the 2000 International Horror Guild Award for Best Illustrated Narrative for his mini-series I Feel Sick.  I Feel Sick, a two-issue mini series, is the first of Vasquez's comic works to appear in full color.  The narrative focuses on Devi, a character from the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac series, who faces personal and artistic turmoil while under a deadline to a publisher. Both issues of I Feel Sick are available from Slave Labor Graphics.  The 32-page full color comics carry a cover price of $3.95.

The International Horror Guild, which presented this award, was founded in 1995 to give recognition to creators in the horror and dark fantasy genres.  The current judges for the International Horror Guild Awards are Edward Bryant, Stefan Dziemianowicz, Hank Wagner, and Fiona Webster.  Jhonen Vasquez has received numerous accolades both for his comics, which also include the extremely popular Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, and the Eisner-Award winning Squee!, as well for his work on the Invader Zim animated series, which he created and continues to work on as the head writer (see 'Johnny the Homicidal Space Invader' and 'More Zim Connections').
