Southern Island, LLC. has released some sketches for its line of Full Metal Alchemist action figures, which is due out in the spring of 2006. Southern Island, which is based in Phoenix, Arizona, recently acquired the license for FMA figures from FUNimation Productions (see 'Southern Island Nabs Full Metal Alchemist Figures'), and sketches for the new FMA line will be on display at the FUNimation booth at the San Diego Comic-Con later this week. Not only will these figures look cool, they will be extremely pose-able with 15-21 points of articulation.
As ICv2 has noted numerous times, Full Metal Alchemist has become the breakout anime and manga hit of 2005 (see 'Full Metal Alchemist Still on Top'). The Full Metal Alchemist anime series from FUNimation has earned great ratings on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and the FMA DVD releases have made it into the Top 5 on the VideoScan lists, while the first volume of Viz's Full Metal Alchemist manga remained at the top of the BookScan list of graphic novels sold in bookstores for over a month -- and is currently challenging the Dark Horse adaptation of Star Wars Episode III as the best-selling graphic novel of the year so far in bookstores.
