Cliff Biggers of Dr. No's Comics, Games, and Books saw Steven Bates' column on age-appropriate giveaways for Free Comic Book Day (see 'I Think I Can Manage -- Adults Only') and sent us this correction:

Steven columns are always interesting, but this week's column is built on a false assumption, and I'm surprised that no one at ICv2 disabused him of his mistaken notion.

The charges against Gordon Lee in Rome, GA, do NOT stem from any Free Comic Book Day activity.  They came about as the result of the distribution of the comic book in question to a young girl as part of a 'Trick or Treat on Broad Street' evening event that targeted children twelve and under.  Participating businesses were asked to distribute appropriate treats for pre-teen children; it was during this trick or treat event that a child was given a copy of the book in question.

Whether this has any effect on Steven's view of the situation or not, I cannot say.  However, I see it as a significant enough error in fact that it needs to be noted and corrected.

Steven Bates responds:  Thanks to Cliff for correcting that point--blame it on 'deadline fever' if you must.  Appreciate Cliff keeping me (and ICv2) honest!'

The column in question has been corrected -- ed.
