I could not agree more.  This is the reason I no longer read today's comics.  They are too dark, cruel and suggestive.  I can see any of the above in today's movies and television.  I read comics to escape reality, not to revel in it.  I think if publishers would get all their titles back to the basics of entertainment, the sales figures would skyrocket.
