Superman Returns, which is being released simultaneously in regular and Imax theaters, will be the first live action film to utilize technology that allows conversion to 3-D for Imax, according to Variety.  Three to four sequences, amounting to around 20 minutes of film time, will be presented in 3-D.  Visual cues will alert theatergoers to put on their special 3-D glasses.

Although the dollars associated with Imax releases of genre films(V for Vendetta is the most recent) have been modest, the Imax features do offer the core a special experience, and give cinephiles another reason to take in the film.
