According to the Hollywood Reporter, Josh Hartnett will star in Columbia Pictures' adaptation of Steve Niles' horror comic, 30 Days of Night.  David Slade is directing the high concept vampire film, which is based on the IDW comic and set in Barrow, Alaska during the sunless arctic winter.  Production is slated to begin in August in New Zealand (see '30 Days of Night Movie Set').

Harnett, who starred in a picture entitled 40 Days and 40 Nights, is one of the rising young male stars in the Hollywood firmament; he can be seen in the thriller, Lucky Number Slevin and in September in Brian De Palma's adaptation of James Ellroy's noir novel The Black Dahlia.
