The Fantastic Four animated series (see 'FF Toon on Cartoon Network') has a 'strong anime feel,' according to executive producer Craig Kyle, who participated in a press conference hosted by Marvel on Tuesday.  It premieres this weekend; no permanent time slot was revealed.

The animation is a combination of conventional and CGI techniques.  CGI is used for backgrounds and environments, vehicles, and weaponry, with hand-drawn animation for the characters.

The writing is by veterans of other animated series, including Batman, X-Men, and Spider-Man.  Chris Yost, the story editor and head writer, participated in the conference.

Asked by ICv2 about plans for the toy line or any other Fantastic Four toon licenses, Kyle said that the show was going to 'build up the hunger' in the viewers for the toys, which would probably be released by Hasbro next year.  'We have a lot of faith in the series,' he said, 'so I think the demand will be there.'  The people involved with the show were 'really, really impressed' with the toy designs that were put together by the Toy Biz folks, he said.

The show has been sold in the U.S., U.K., and France, with other markets to follow.
