The Checker Book Publishing Group of Dayton, Ohio has announced the acquisition of the rights to reprint the original Trouble With Girls comic books in a series of trade paperback collections, with the release of the first volume scheduled for November. Created by Will Jacobs and Gerard Jones at the height of the black-and-white boom in 1987, The Trouble With Girls was a rip-roaring spy spoof that managed to make it through forty plus issues that appeared under a variety of publishing banners including Eternity, Malibu, Comico, and Epic.
Jacobs and Jones were contributors to the National Lampoon from 1983-1988, and they managed to bring their well-honed comedy chops to The Trouble With Girls where they spoofed anyone and everyone in the world of pop culture. The first volume of Checker's collected The Trouble With Girls ships in November and will include the first seven issues of the Malibu series. The second volume collects issues 8-14 of the Malibu series and should ship in January 2007.
