According to Variety, Degrassi: The Next Generation Candian TV series will be syndicated in the U.S. in 2007 through most major cable carriers, reaching an estimated 60% of households. The teen soap is in its sixth season and is known for its direct handling of issues including pregnancy and homosexuality.
Degrassi has a large international fan base and is syndicated in 150 countries and is currently aired in the U.S. only through the digital cable company, N. Director Kevin Smith (Clerks) is a fan and has guest-starred on the show (see 'Jay and Silent Bob Do Degrassi DVD').
Pocket Books recently launched a graphic novel series based on the show (see 'Degrassi High Graphic Novels').
