The December 29th New York Times carried an article on the various 9-11 comic benefit/tribute books, noting the 'crossover interest' they were generating. The story led with Quesada and Heroes, with special attention paid to the speed with which Heroes was put together -- barely a week and a half from idea to printer. Ample coverage was also given to 9-11 Emergency Relief from Alternative Comics and 9-11 from DC and Dark Horse. The best words in the article, not surprisingly, came from Will Eisner, 84, who said that for years, 'I've been waiting for the graphic novel or the use of comics for serious material to be accepted and here, for the first time, this medium has dealt with a major event....Imagery has tremendous power, far greater power than words alone.' The comic industry response to 9-11 was one of ICv2's Top Comic Stories of 2001 (see 'Top Comic Stories...').
