Fantasy Flight Games is planning a spring release for two new installments in the Wings of War series of board games originally created by the Italian game maestros at Nexus Editrice. The Wings of War games combine board and card game mechanics to provide players with an exciting recreation of aerial combat. The first two Wings of War games, Wings of War: Famous Aces and Wings of War: Watch Your Back feature World War I aerial action with Fokker Triplanes, Sopwith Camels, and Spads. In April Fantasy Flight will release World of War: Miniatures, which introduces 1/144 scale painted planes, completely compatible with any box in the WW1 series and which represents a wonderful collection on its own. A second set of miniatures featuring more WWI aircraft is due out late in 2007.
Also due out from Fantasy Flight this spring is Wings of War: Dawn of War, which expands the aerial combat mechanics of Wings of War to World War II. Dawn of War will feature fighter planes from the first years of the war (1939-1941) and provide the foundation for an evolution of the Wings of War system. Later in the year Fantasy Flight will release the Wings of War Squadron Packs, sets of new cards which expands this WW2 set, each pack allowing gamers fly three additional planes. Another new Wings of War product, Wings of War Miniatures Deluxe Set, will provide a starting point to play Wings of War, with a streamlined version of the elegant game mechanics and four pre-painted airplane models.
