Kendall Swafford of Up Up & Away! in Cincinnati, Ohio saw WizKids' response to ActionClix getting released early by Gamestop (see 'WizKids Responds to Broken Street Date') and believes WizKids gives mass outlets better access to product:

So... GameStop breaks the street date on ActionClix, and WizKids pretends to be shocked and amazed.  Target stores here in Cincinnati also 'broke' the street date, having the product out for sale on Tuesday the 18th.  The path WizKids has chosen is obvious; restrict access to the product in the direct market by limiting our distribution channels, and at the same time go courting the mass market, making sure they have all the product WizKids can produce.

Someone remind me again why I should continue to carry WizKids products, because I really can't come up with a good reason.  That sound you hear?  It's the sound of disappearing shelf space for WizKids products in my store.
