GAMA has elected three new directors and re-elected two incumbent officers. Michelle Nephew of Atlas Games and Hal Mangold, whose RPG work has been published by Green Ronin, White Wolf, and Pinnacle Entertainment Group, were elected to new full terms as directors. Also stepping into a director’s role is podcaster Paul Tevis (Have Games, Will Travel), chosen to replace Paizo Publishing’s Phil Lacefield (see “Paizo Names Publisher”), who resigned mid-term.
Two officers – Jamie Chambers (Margaret Weis Productions) and Aaron Witten (Gamestation) – were re-elected to their posts as vice-president and treasurer, respectively.
Departing board members Will Niebling of Elfinwerks and author/game designer Michael Stackpole will serve in a new position, Director Emeritus, allowing them to attend GAMA meetings, but without voting status.
At Origins, GAMA also drafted a new purpose statement, which reads: “The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is the non-profit trade organization dedicated to serving the tabletop game industry. GAMA strengthens and supports all industry professionals by advancing their interests, providing educational programs and opportunities, and promoting our unique form of quality social entertainment.
“Led by publishers and manufacturers, GAMA promotes the interests of all persons involved in the commerce of games and game-related products.”
“For many years, GAMA operated without a purpose statement, without expressing the ‘why’ behind our mission,” said GAMA Executive Director
