In a post made on Wizards of the Coast’s Gleemax forums, Dungeons & Dragons Senior Brand Manager Scott Rouse said that a draft of the promised revisions to WotC’s Game System License (GSL) and System Resource Document (SRD) (see “WotC to Revise 4th Ed. GSL”) “is done” but that there was still work to be done before the text of the agreement would be finalized.

According to Rouse, several tasks remained, including the creation of “a ‘statement of rejection’ form that will be an official opt out of the license upon a revision."  "We also need [to] clear up some things on the SRD and the FAQ," Rouse wrote.  "Realistically, looking at my work load, this is still weeks off being done.”

In light of the terms of the GSL, several manufacturers who cashed in on the 3rd Edition d20 boom opted out of 4th Edition’s GSL in its original iteration, including Necromancer Games (see “Third-Party 4E Releases”) and Green Ronin (see “Green Ronin Says ‘No’ to GSL”), though Green Ronin President Chris Pramas was hopeful that “WotC will revise the GSL in the positive way.”
