Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will release the 11th Pokemon feature film, Pokemon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior, on DVD on March 31st.  The ten previous Pokemon movies have sold a total of over 4 million units in North America so far, making the series a serious contender for the all-time anime home entertainment champ here in the States.  The latest Pokemon movie also pushed the theatrical box office total for the Pokemon franchise in Japan past the 50 billion yen mark making it the highest grossing animated franchise in Japanese box office history (see “Pokemon Sets Japanese B.O. Record”).

The Pokemon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior DVD (MSRP $19.95) contains 137 minutes of Pocket Monster animated action.  The film has been dubbed into English and is presented in an anamorphic widescreen format.  In this latest adventure Ash and his companions become embroiled in a dimension-spanning conflict when they befriend the sharp-witted Pokemon Shaymin and stumble into Giratina’s “Reverse World” where they help to defeat Dialga’s attempt to control Giratina and rule the “Reverse World.”

It should be noted that both Giratina and Shaymin are included in the latest Pokemon TCG release, Pokemon TCG: Platinum, which is due out this month (see “Pokemon TCG: Platinum”).
