The Anime News Network is reporting (via the Japanese Website animeanime) that a newly released study by the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) pegged sales of anime DVDs in North America during 2007 at $316 million based on an analysis of data from Nielsen VideoScan, NPD and other sources.  This total represents a 24% decline from 2002 when, according to the JETRO study, the North American packaged media market reached $415 million.

 

According to ANN, the total North American market for all anime-related goods (video games, toys, games, apparel, etc.) in 2007 was $2.8 billion in 2007 down 42% from its highpoint in 2003 when it reached $4.84 billion.
