GAMA, the Game Manufacturers Association, announced that pre-registrations for the Origins 2002 Games Convention in Columbus, Ohio have set a record with over 4,000 registering before the June 10, pre-registration deadline.  Extrapolating from the record-setting number of pre-registrations, GAMA is expecting that onsite attendance will surpass 10,000 during the convention, which takes place this year over the Independence Day weekend.

GAMA took back management of the show from WotC after a lengthy dispute (see 'GAMA and WotC Settle Origins Dispute'), and is now running the show itself.  Based on the success GAMA has had running the GAMA Trade Show the past few years (see 'Mood at GAMA Upbeat'), expectations are high that Origins under GAMA's management will be a more successful show than it has been in the past.

GAMA will hold its annual membership meeting at Origins on Wednesday, July 3 at 7pm in the Union A/B room at the Columbus Convention Center.  The GAMA Board of Directors, including any newly elected directors, will meet at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 in the Harrison Room of the Columbus Convention Center.
