Best known for their children’s and family games, Gamewright does occasionally also produce titles that attract hobby game enthusiasts.  Its scheduled offerings for 2010 reflect the character of the company, with a number of colorful children’s titles along with some more thoughtful fare.

 

2010 will see the release of nine new titles for Gamewright:

 

Forbidden Island:  Designer Matt Leacock, best known for the smash hit Pandemic, returns to the cooperative game genre with this game about treasure hunters set to explore a rapidly sinking island.  Stock number:  317.  Suggested retail price:  $15.99

 

Rory’s Story Cubes:  Described as a “pocket-sized story generator,” this dice game is more about spinning stories than scoring points, but should make an entertaining party game or filler.  Stock number:  318.  Suggested retail price:  $7.99

 

Sumo Ham Slam:  A dexterity-based game with magnetic components, combining the Japanese sport of Sumo with furry household pets.  Stock number:  7111.  Suggested retail price:  $26.99.

 

Sounds Like a Plan:  More of a true party game, Sounds Like a Plan challenges players to concoct schemes based on sound (or not-so-sound) advice.  Stock number:  7108.  Suggested retail price:  $19.99

 

Hide and Eeek!:  This children’s game teaches memory, counting, and visual discrimination skills as a tiny mouse sets out to frighten 100 elephants.  Stock number:  5519.  Suggested retail price:  $13.99.

 

Can You See What I See? Bingo Link:  A picture matching game based on the Can You See What I See? books of Walter Wick, including images from the series.  Stock number:  7109.  Suggested retail price:  $15.99.

 

Dweebies:  Wacky and colorful characters called “Dweebies” are the focus of this matching and capturing card game.  Stock number:  242.  Suggested retail price:  $10.99.

 

Take the Cake:  Designed for younger audiences, Take the Cake is a simple color and shape matching game featuring delectable frosty desserts.  Stock number:  5518.  Suggested retail price:  $12.99.

 

Order’s Up!:  Players race to fill the orders for the diner’s customers, matching dishes to their own “guest check” in this game combining matching and hand-eye coordination.  Stock number:  7110.  Suggested retail price:  $15.99.
