Fantasy Flight Games has announced the release of an all-new BattleLore series game based on the epic novels of A Song of Ice and Fire. Scheduled to release in late Spring 2010, Battles of Westeros invites players to recreate some of the pivotal battles from the hit fantasy series.
Battles of Westeros is not based directly on the original BattleLore game, though it does share some features and style. It is the first in a planned line of tactical battle games which will all be branded under the BattleLore logo. Battles of Westeros features an entirely new game engine, and focuses more on command and control and troop morale than the original BattleLore.
This title is based on the popular series of novels written by George R. R. Martin. Numerous scenarios will be included, allowing players to explore many of the battles chronicled in the books. It is designed to recreate large-scale battles, with numerous combatants on both sides.
Battles of Westeros will include a double-sided board, map overlays, 110 playing cards, and 138 detailed plastic miniatures representing the forces common to the “War of the Five Kings” for a suggested retail price of $79.95.
