Cryptozoic Entertainment has announced Battlegrounds, a hobby store exclusive World of Warcraft Trading Card league, which retailers can participate in at no cost. Crytpozoic will provide free kits to participating retailers. Each kit will run four weeks, with the first one launching July 30th.
The kits contain prize support for weekly tournaments including both participation and prize promo cards that are not available anywhere else. The kits also support casual gaming with a point system for Achievements that allows players to play any day of the week (as long as it’s at the store) and also earn points for the number of games they play, for bringing in new players, for winning games as one of the five Horde races or one of the five Alliance races, and for a host of other WoW TCG-specific feats. After four weeks the player at each store with the most Achievement points wins a Battleground Master Playmat.
The Badge of Justice program encourages players to participate, as players can redeem their Achievement points for exclusive cards from Cryptozoic. For every 200 Achievement points a player collects, he or she earns a Badge of Justice and a token.
Stores that run Battlegrounds events successfully will be featured on the upcoming World of Warcraft TCG Website and will have priority in running other exclusive programs in the future like Spectral Safari.
The first Battlegrounds kit will contain some of the most popular WoW TCG promo cards from the past, while the second kit will feature brand new “Extended Art” cards, and the third kit will see the debut of foil promo cards.
