Giant monsters have arrived to attack the railways and cities of Days of Wonder’s popular Ticket to Ride series of train games.  Compatible with all Ticket to Ride maps, the Alvin & Dexter expansion will release in February and offers two monsters to ravage the cities of the world.

 

The two monsters, “Alvin the Alien” and “Dexter the Dino,” are represented in the game by detailed plastic models that can be placed on any city to block rail lines and reduce the value of route cards.  In addition to the two models, the expansion includes 22 cards and rules in 11 different languages.  Alvin & Dexter is packaged in a window box that displays both figures.

 

The expansion is not designed only to add silliness to the game:  “Alvin the Alien and Dexter the Dino bring a lot of wacky fun to Ticket to Ride,” says designer Alan R. Moon.  “They also introduce a devious new tactical layer to the game that forces players to think about how to best use them and when to defend against them.”
