Dragon Warriors, the cult favorite 1980s dark fantasy role-playing game that was recently re-released by Magnum Opus Press, is moving to the new British publisher Serpent King Games. Serpent King Games plans to keep the existing Dragon Warriors books available, and will publish new supplements starting with a Dragon Warriors Player’s Book that is currently scheduled for a July, 2011 release. Another two Dragon Warriors releases are planned for the second half of 2011.

 

The Dragon Warriors RPG was resurrected in 2008 by Magnum Opus Press, which published the game through Mongoose Press’ Flaming Cobra imprint (see “Mongoose to Release Magnum Opus RPGs”).

 

Former Mongoose Publishing writer and lead designer on the new edition of the Traveller RPG, Gareth Hanrahan formed Serpent King Games along with Jon Hodgson, art director at Cubicle 7 and Dragon Warriors cover artist, and Ian Sturrock, who worked on the Conan, Slaine, and Dragon Warriors RPGs at Mongoose Publishing.
