Fantasy Flight Games has announced the third quarter release of Ventura, a sophisticated Euro-style board game designed by Alberto Mononcin and Silvio Negri-Clementi and set in Renaissance Italy during the 14th Century. Ventura is a territory-building game with a modular game board that accommodates from 2-4 players and takes about 60 minutes to play.

Players represent noble families vying for economic leadership and territorial domination in an early Renaissance world dominated by city states.  The noble houses used in the game, Este, Gonzaga, Medici, and Visconti are all ripped from the pages of history and come with their strengths and predilections taken right out of the history books.  Players have to organize their armies, and lead them in battle, but it is necessary to use any acquired wealth judiciously since the best soldiers are also the most expensive.

Gameplay unfolds over a series of rounds broken up into phases, with each player recruiting, annexing, expanding, conscripting, mobilizing and managing their troops before moving on to the next round.
