Since the release of Warmachine and Hordes Mk II, Privateer Press has struggled to fill the rapidly growing back list demand for its popular miniature lines. Responding to continued criticism from retailers and fans, the company has decided to delay future new releases while it expands its production facilities, and introduce a new order system.
Expecting a spike in demand during the summer convention season, Privateer Press originally announced that all new releases originally planned for August would be pushed back (see “Privateer Press Delays August Releases”). Now the number of planned releases for October and December has also been reduced. Privateer will use this time to focus on filling demand for back ordered product.
Privateer Press is also rolling out a new ordering system this autumn that is designed to help the company maintain inventory of the core models for each faction in both games. The goal is to keep the most important models available for new and existing players, and to have them available for Privateer’s retail and distribution partners.
Products that are not part of this core item list will continue to have longer fulfillment times, though Privateer plans to continue expanding its manufacturing capability to reduce these delays.
Over the past year, Privateer has doubled the size of its production staff. New plastic and resin molding departments have been added to increase the production capability of the Bellevue facility. Director of Business Development William Shick reports that “We are now shipping record-breaking amounts of product.”
