Ken Solo of Checkmate Games & Hobbies in Toledo, Ohio read Scott Thorne's column regarding the recent Magic Celebration event (see "Rolling for Initiative--Celebrating Magic") and shares how the Magic Celebration went at his store.

Checkmate is a very new games store, and does not yet have a very extensive advertising network.  Nevertheless, Magic Celebration brought in as many people as we normally get for Friday Night Magic and about a third were people I have not seen before.  So it was successful in bringing new people in to see the store.  The t-shirts were responsible for selling two Deck Builder Toolkits, so I think the incentive worked for us, but maybe fewer shirts are needed.  The online game promo codes were eagerly accepted by players, so that aspect was also successful.

Yes, I would like to see Wizard's do it again next year, when Checkmate is in a better position to get the word out to people who are not regular Magic players already.
