Games Workshop will hold its annual consumer event for North American fans July 28th at the Donald Stephens (nee Rosemont) Convention Center near Chicago. Since it’s Games Workshop, a lot of the event is about armies, painting, or when it all comes together, painting armies. Big Games will be hosted for GW’s major lines, with 72-foot tables full of miniatures for each. Conversion contests, designer guests, licensees (such as Fantasy Flight Games), speed painting, a Mega Tank Battle, and introductory painting lessons provide GW activities for everyone.
Among the painting competitions are Golden Demon, GW’s premier painting event; and Armies on Parade, in which the patrons of each GW store vote on the best army (on a 2’ by 2’ base) to select a winner to send to the national competition at Games Day.
