Z-Man Games presents Tourney, a worker-placement card game that recreates the rebuilding of the medieval city of Tournay Belgium.  Tournay is a sequel to the game Troyes by the same designers (see "'Troyes' and More from Z-Man").

In Tournay, players take on the role of Tournasian family in order to manage the rebuilding a section of the city.  Utilizing citizens to complete their own district, players add cards to their plaza, and then place their citizens on cards to activate their abilities.  Players then utilize these card abilities to execute up to five actions per turn. Strategic placement of a player’s citizens, combined with creative card placement in their plaza allows each player to build buildings in order to compete for the most prestige in the city.  The player with the most prestige at game’s end emerges victorious.
The game uses many similar aspects to the game Troyes, apart from the iconic style of the art by Alexandre Roche.  In Tournay, just as in Troyes, there are three types of Citizens: the military (red), the religious (white) and the civilians (yellow).  In Troyes, dice are used to determine worker placement, but the design allows players to manipulate the normal randomness of a die roll. In Tournay, the same mechanics are patterned around card draws, where players can draw two cards, choose one, then return the other card to the draw deck.  Also in Tournay, players may actually purchase citizens from other players, just as in Troyes they can purchase their dice, creating unique strategic situations where a player’s resources are accessible to all players for a price.
The game includes 90 Activity cards, four Plaza cards,
15 Event cards, 33 citizens (meeples), four scoring markers,
a start player marker, a game board, Deniers in denominations of 1, 5 and 10, 20 gray citizen tokens and 6 Player Aids.  In addition, the game includes an additional 18 activity cards, an expansion, to provide more challenging and continued game play for experienced players.
Tournay is for 2-4 players ages 13 and up, plays in around 30 minutes and retails for $44.99.
