Gen Con News: At Gen Con Coffee Haus Games showed off a trio of new European board games that included a game from Germany (Siberia), one from France (Vanuatu), and one from Italy (Sheepland).  Coffee Haus President Eric Price explained to ICv2 that the games will all be available via distributors (and direct from Coffee Haus Games) over the next few months.

Siberia (MSRP $70), which debuted at Gen Con, is a German game designed by Reiner Stockhausen in which players compete to exploit the vast resources of the Siberian tundra.  Players have to manage their investments well, balance research and extraction, while placing their personnel and arranging transportation adroitly. S iberia is designed for 2-4 players (ages 10 and up) and takes approximately 60 minutes to play.

Vanuatu (MSRP $60), which is due out in September, is a French game designed by Alain Epron.  Designed for 3-5 players (ages 12 and up), Vanuatu takes about 90 minutes for players to make it through the game’s eight turns.  There is a definite "third world vibe" to Vanuatu since there is no such thing as a "rich Vanuatuan" and unlike many economic board games where players amass huge holdings, the object of Vanuatu is to survive as comfortably as you can.  Players are residents of the South Seas island who, in order to prosper, have to manage their resources wisely as well as make money off of visitors to their island home.  In order to earn money and prosperity points players can create iconic Vanuatuan Sand Drawings, guide tourists around the island, or trade cargo with foreign countries.

Sheepland (MSRP $50), which is also due in September, is an Italian board game designed by Simone Luciani and Daniele Tascini.  Designed for 2-4 players ages 8 and up, Sheepland takes only 30 minutes to play.  The game is set on an island where raising sheep has always been the primary economic activity.  Players attempt to corral the finest herd (including the elusive and valuable black sheep) in the best land, and become the richest shepherd in Sheepland.
