Fantasy Flight Games of Roseville, Minnesota has formed a strategic partnership with Phalanx Games of Weesp, The Netherlands in order to bring the Phalanx line of high quality strategy boardgames to the U.S. and English speaking markets.  Fantasy Flight will start by bringing in English versions of the Phalanx games, Waterloo and A House Divided.  Phalanx specializes in historically-based strategy games as evidenced by Waterloo and A House Divided which are based respectively on the Napoleonic campaigns and the American Civil War.  This summer Fantasy Flight will publish two additional Phalanx titles: Nero: The Legacy of a Despot, and The Prince: The Struggles of House Borgia, providing gamers with the chance to plot the cabalistic intrigues of Imperial Rome and the Machiavellian machinations of Renaissance Italy.

Fantasy Flight's announcement of its partnership with Phalanx comes at a time when there appears to be something of revival of interest in strategy-heavy boardgames.  The addition of the Phalanx line with its combination of fast gameplay, high quality components, and epic themes should help Fantasy Flight, which publishes the popular Lord of the Rings and Dragonball Z boardgames, gain additional prominence in what has become a growing segment of the game market.
