Fantasy Flight Games has provided more details about The Outer Reach (MSRP $39.95), a full color hardcover supplement for Deathwatch, one of three FFG role-playing games based on the Warhammer 40K tabletop miniatures game (Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy are the others).  ICv2 rates the trio of Warhammer 40K RPGs as collectively the third most popular RPG in its most recent survey of games (see "Top 5 RPGs--Spring 2012").  In the Deathwatch RPG players take on the roles of the bio-engineered super soldiers known as Space Marines.

 

The Outer Reach supplement details the worlds beyond the Achilus Crusade, including those held by the ancient Necrons.  These are the dark forbidding worlds spread across the Jericho Reach that have, for whatever reason, never been settled, terraformed, or colonized by Imperial Forces.  Some of the worlds have been devastated by mining operations that have turned them into toxic waste dumps, while others are geologically inert lumps of rocks.  These are the worlds to which the Dead Cabal turns its attention.  Each world could be used as the setting for any number of Deathwatch missions, and numerous "adventure seeds" have been added to the text of The Outer Reach supplement in order to give GMs plenty of opportunities to be creative.
