Conflict Games is taking a game mechanic more familiar to on-line gamers and attaching it to the popular Pathfinder tabletop role-playing game. Conflict PvP introduces rules for dedicated player versus player combat scenarios, and is scheduled to release on April 20th.
The sourcebook provides a system for constructing team versus team and player versus player battles by modifying the familiar Pathfinder rules set. Players assign a "Battlepoint" value to each character, based on the character’s abilities and statistics. By matching teams with similar Battlepoint values, balanced matches can be created.
The new rules package also uses a coordinate-based hidden movement system to handle stealthy or invisible characters, based around a set of "passcards."
Conflict PvP still calls for a gamemaster to referee the combat, making it different from a traditional tabletop tactical game. A section of the book is devoted to providing the gamemaster with suggestions and tools for making player versus player battles fair and interesting.
Conflict PvP is compatible with Pathfinder and other d20-based fantasy role-playing games. It will be a single 258-page full-color hardbound book. The suggested retail price will be $39.99.
