A new base set for one of the most popular deck-building games will release this summer.  AEG’s Thunderstone Starter Set promises to be an entry point version of the game for new players while still offering new cards to attract existing fans.

Like most deck-building games, Thunderstone has grown tremendously since its first release through numerous expansions.  The Starter Set is designed to provide new players with only the cards they need to start playing the game, as well as an easier setup.  Over 250 cards will be included in the set--enough for two to five players.

Fans of Thunderstone will also be attracted to the new Starter Set, which includes new heroes, monster types, and village cards that have not appeared in any earlier base set or expansion.

Thunderstone charted as the ninth best-selling card or deck-building game back in Spring 2012, trailing Dominion and Ascension (see "Top 10 Card/Building Games--Spring 2012").
