Fantasy Flight Games has announced Oath of the Outcast, the first "Hero and Monster Collection" expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2E, to release in Q1. The new style of expansion will offer new miniatures and quests to expand the game.
"Hero and Monster Collection" expansions will include four heroes and ‘at least’ three monster groups, previously only available from the original edition of the game, updated for 2E with new art and sculpts; as well as two new quests. Oath of the Outcast will include four heroes (Trenloe the Strong, Laurel of Bloodwood, Shiver, and Elder Mok) as well as monster figures including beastmen, bane spiders, and razorwings--15 miniatures in all. The heroes come with character sheets, and the monster groups come with monster cards. The two quests are titled "Oath of the Outcast" and "Prison of Ice and Lies," and may be played individually or as a Rumor quest in a campaign.
As an expansion, the Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2E base game is required to play. The game is for 2 - 5 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 1 - 2 hours. MSRP is set at $34.95.
A more traditional expansion for Descent, Shadow of Nerekhall, will also release in Q1 (see "'Shadow of Nerekhall'"), as will new "Lieutenant Packs" (see "'Agents of the Labyrinth'").
