Cheapass Games will release a new edition of the Origins-nominated Falling and a new game, Pairs, in September, distributed by Paizo Publishing.
The new edition of Falling, which was originally released in 1998, will feature new artwork by comic great Val Mayerik, some new cards, and updated rules. The game, designed by James Ernest, contains 55 cards and rules for $9.95 MSRP. It plays in two minutes and is for four to eight players, ages 12 and up. Falling was nominated for an Origins Award and made the Games 100.
The premise is that everyone is falling, and the last person to hit the ground wins.
Pairs is "a new classic pub game" by Ernest and Paul Peterson (see “New Pub Game 'Pairs'”). Like Falling, it includes 55 cards and rules for $9.95. It’s for two to six players, ages 12 to adult. The goal is to avoid pairs and points. It plays in five minutes.
Pairs will be released under the Hip Pocket imprint, and be released in eleven versions, all at $9.95: The Name of the Wind (based on the works of Patrick Rothfuss, art by Shane Tyree), Core Deck, Pirate Deck (Brett Bean art), Modegan Deck (Shane Tyree art), Barmaids (Echo Chernik art), Goblin Deck (art by Peter Venters), Princess and Mr. Whiffle (Nate Taylor art), Faen Deck (Nate Taylor art), Professor Elemental (art by Cheyenne Wright), Shallow Ones (John Kovalic art), and Muses (Phil Foglio and Cheyenne Wright art).
