IELLO Games and Superlude will release the card game Kobayakawa in December.
Designed by Jun Sasaki, Kobayakawa is a bluffing and deduction game set in feudal Japan. The powerful Kobayakawa samurai clan is known for defending the weak, and their allegiance shifts with the wind.
Players attempt to end up with the highest numbered card in their hand at the end of the round. In the center is a random card--the Kobayakawa card. Players can either discard their card face up in front of them and take a new card from the deck, or turn a card from the deck over to replace the current Kobayakawa card. After each player takes a turn, they decide if they want to compete for this round by putting a crest token on their unrevealed card. The highest card will win the round, but the player with the smallest numbered card will get to add the number of the current Kobayakawa to their total, possibly trumping the winner.
The box contains: 15 cards, 32 tokens, a First Player token, and a rule book. The game is for 3-6 players, ages 9 and up, and plays in 15 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
