Humanoids Publishing has announced the sale of West End Games to Philadelphia-based Purgatory Publishing, which is headed by Eric J. Gibson. Formed in 1974, West End Games was best known for its line of role-playing games, which included Star Wars D6, Paranoia, DC Universe, and Torg. Although West End Games has been largely dormant since its acquisition by Humanoids (save for an attempt to license its D6 gaming system for a nominal fee, see 'Humanoids Licenses West End Games System'), Purgatory plans to start publishing new West End Games products as soon as possible. According to Gibson, 'Plans include the printing of the extremely popular D6 System, the continued development of Torg 2.0, and the acquisition of new licenses.' Since West End's previous licenses have expired, it should be interesting to see what new properties that Purgatory thinks it can develop.
