Wizards of the Coast is preparing two different types of releases for its Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game, both of which will greatly expand the size of its 'miniatures' offerings. First up in July is the War of the Dragon Queen Huge Pack (MSRP $19.95), an expansion set of pre-painted plastic minis that includes huge figures that tower over the average miniature. These figures accurately portray the larger creatures introduced in the D&D realm including characters from the Monster Manual, Heroes of Battle, Eberron, and Forgotten Realms role-playing campaign settings.
To further expand on the lore and legend of D&D, WotC is also introducing a line of Dungeons & Dragons Icons -- limited edition, massive, collectible dragons, which can be used in both role-playing campaigns and with the D&D Miniatures Game.
The first figure in the Icons series is the Gargantuan Black Dragon ($24.99), which comes with a 4-inch by 4-inch base and is due out in late summer. It is proportionately sized to the D&D minis and comes with an extensive double-sided stat card, a full-color map and a playable game scenario. Then in October comes the even bigger Colossal Red Dragon (MSRP $74.99), which comes on a 6-inch by 6-inch base accompanied by an oversize stat card, a full color map and a playable game scenario.
