Fantasy Flight Games has announced major expansions to two fantasy board games, Descent: Journeys in the Dark and Warrior Knights.  The first expansion to be released will be The Altar of Despair Expansion for Descent, which will ship in December.  The Altar of Despair Expansion (MSRP $39.95) includes more than 20 (unpainted) plastic miniatures depicting 6 new heroes and 5 new monster types: ferocious blood apes, shadowy assassins, malevolent dark priests, powerful trolls, and the terrifying chaos beast.

The Altar of Despair also features new special abilities.  Heroes can now gain access to a new type of potion and perform new types of action, while the overlord can now trap the heroes with crushing walls and plague them with dark glyphs and cursed items.

The Crown and Glory Expansion (MSRP $19.95) for the Warrior Knights board game is set for an early 2007 release.  It provides players with a multitude of new options, additions, and variants in their quest for the throne -- a player can actually become king and attempt to prove he has what it takes to retain the crown.

The Crown and Glory Expansion contains over 200 new cards, including Mission cards that provide players with new paths to victory, Garrisons that help defend fortified cities, town levies that support armies, new specialized mercenaries, and more Fate cards that allow for bigger battles.
