The July chart is heavy on new manga releases, with readers heading out to pick up the latest volumes of One Piece, Kaiju No. 8, Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun, My Dress-Up Darling, and Dandadan, as well as the newest Junji Ito collection.
Goodbye, Eri, a new title by the creator of Chainsaw Man, and Spider-Man: Fake Red return to the chart for a second month, and both actually move up in the rankings compared to the June chart (see "June 2023 Circana BookScan"), possibly because both were released late in the month.
The opposite is true of Lore Olympus, which was released on June 6 and debuted at number 1 (for the hardcover) and 4 (for the paperback) on the June chart. The paperback didn’t make the July Top 20 at all, and the hardcover slipped down to number 10. That has matched the pattern for the previous two volumes, where the hardcover stays in the Top 20 for a second month but the paperback drops out.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, on the other hand, is in the Top 20 a full year after its release (although it hasn’t been on the chart the whole time).
The rest of the chart is early volumes or one-shots of popular manga series that seem to have taken up permanent residence, with the most recent of these being Volume 1 of [Oshi no Ko].
