Artist/toy designer/animation producer Gary Baseman has signed with Epic Rights as his licensing agent, Baseman and Epic founder Dell Furano announced. Furano is something of a legend in the music licensing world, as Bill Graham’s original partner in Winterland Productions. He also ran Sony’s merchandising and licensing division, created and ran a licensing company acquired by mega-concert promoter Live Nation, and ran Live Nation’s merchandise division for five years before founding Epic.
"I’m excited to be working with Dell as he’s a legend in the licensing world and I know we will collaborate to create a program that will be an art form," Baseman said of the new deal.
Baseman’s art and designs are on a wide variety of products, with a merch line from Dark Horse currently available, and past toys from Critterbox, Kidrobot, and others. Epic plans to launch with a new program focusing on Baseman characters Toby Creamy, and the Wild Girls in the apparel, accessories, home décor, stationery, collectible, and publishing categories, with products for 18-35-year-olds.
Here’s hoping that whatever happens with the new range, Dark Horse Comics eventually ships the long-delayed Gary Baseman Party Lights, pictured here.
